DB2, Cobol, RPG migration to J2EE, Java
Legacy systems are typically written in 3rd and 4th generation languages such as COBOL, RPG or Natural. Most use pre-relational data stores such as ISAM, VSAM, IMS, and Adabas. Some have been deployed on relational database management systems (DB2) but are running on expensive or obsolete hardware and operating environments (IBM Mainframes). These systems all have several common components - they are supported poorly, and at great cost, by a workforce in decline.
FreeSoft Liberator Workbench(TM) will ensure a modernization path for these legacy systems.
DB2 migration from the mainframe to Oracle, RDBMS and to an open systems environment is supported. The schema, all objects and data is migrated into the new database in an automated way.
Most customers use Cobol systems on pre-relational database or DB2. FreeSoft’s Code Liberator(TM) assures Cobol migration. Cobol migration can mean Cobol to Java migration or a Cobol migration with leaving the application logic in Cobol but the application runs in an open systems environment accessing Oracle or other RDBMS.
Cobol to Java migration means a migration to a J2EE, Java EE architecture using the latest Java version and technologies.
RPG applications usually run in an AS400 environment. FreeSoft migrates the AS400 files and data to a RDBMS. RPG migration results a RPG migration to Java environment. This migration process supports Service Oriented Architecture.
