FreeSoft as a technology provider and migration partner was involved as a subcontractor of leading RDBMS vendor of the world in Client's modernization project.
The Project
Client approved a cost savings initiative to move all applications running on the IBM ES9000 machine using the OS/390 operating system to a HP UNIX platform. All source databases on the ES9000 were migrated to the most current version of the Oracle RDBMS. All application processes currently running on the ES9000 were migrated. In this project the ETL processes associated with the SAP Data Warehouse production application were done. FreeSoft task was:
- Create the Oracle Physical Database (upto 4200 tables and/or views):
- Initial Load of the Oracle Database:
- Conversion of the ETL Routines (upto 140 processes):
Solution
FreeSoft used its X20 tool to deliver the project on time & budget. The following features of the tool were used:
- Parser for analyzing the DB2 schema
- Parser for analyzing the DB2 control files
- Parser for analyzing the SQL procedures
- Generator to create the Oracle schema (Tables, Indexes)
- Generator to create the Oracle SQL*Loader Control Files
- Generator to create the SQL procedures
Advantages for the customer
